Welcome to Patricia!

We feel incredibly lucky to have found our newest team member, Patricia Sims. She is bright, organized, thorough, and we are thrilled to have her on board!

Version 2

Patricia Sims, Project Manager

In only a relatively short time working in construction, Patricia has excelled in key roles with Houston’s most impressive developers. With a degree in Construction Management from the University of Houston and invaluable experience in both commercial and multi-family residential construction, she joined our team to make her desired leap into single-family luxury homebuilding. Patricia handles all client draws while balancing the role of Project Manager for several of our projects. An organized & focused quick-learner with an exceptional eye for detail, Patricia adds immense value to our team. And she’s coincidentally got a pretty sweet last name to boot.

When not working, Patricia and her husband love watching their daughter Emma explore the world and remain collectively committed to their search for the rare gem on Netflix that matches both of their interests.

Drum Roll Please…

As many of you know, we achieved an exciting milestone at the beginning of this year with the completion of our first high-end condo project in Houston. Riva at the Park has been a labor of love for our team beginning four years ago when we bought our beloved half-acre property at 3331 D’Amico St.

With incredible vision and persistence, our team has conquered all phases of this project, none of which were without their share of obstacles. From pre-construction (land acquisition, architectural design, sales & marketing, homeowner selections & change orders, financing, infrastructure improvements, permitting) to construction (excavation, concrete, core and shell, finish-out) to the post-construction phase we are now navigating (homeowner move-ins and punch-out), commitment to our Riva community has remained our steadfast focus. What a ride it has been!

Now we get to photograph and share our achievement, and we hope you join us in celebrating Riva at the Park!

Stay tuned later this summer for more interior photos of Riva at the Park!

LAGUNA on ABC’S “Cool Spaces”

header-large

ABC 13’s “Cool Spaces” featured our Laguna at Lake Pointe luxury townhomes on their Saturday morning show this week! “Cool Spaces” highlights spots around Houston that bring some uniqueness and excitement to our neighborhoods. After learning of our community yoga classes that we hosted at Laguna earlier this year, ABC 13 expressed interest in shedding light on the modern lock-n-leave lifestyle that we’re offering in Sugar Land. It’s a new twist on suburban living, and one that they thought their viewers would enjoy.

After all, Laguna at Lake Pointe doesn’t really fit the mold of Sugar Land, known for traditional architecture, large yards, and homes outside of walking distance to shopping & dining. But that’s what makes Laguna so unique! We offer the best of modern living and a convenient walkable location IN THE HEART OF SUGAR LAND. Best of both worlds. You can’t beat that!

Laguna: A Vehicle for Giving Back

We started 2018 with a renewed sense of purpose: To create extraordinary homes while enhancing the lives of our clients, our team, our partners and our communities.

After brainstorming what that purpose should look like in action this year, we realized Laguna could be an integral part of accomplishing our mission. Until they are sold, we are determined to put our beautifully designed and conveniently located Laguna townhomes to good use. Below are a couple of ways that Laguna will help us give back to our community this year:

We have offered our Laguna model home to all non-profit organizations in our community as a unique venue for their small events. We know it takes an extraordinary amount of time and effort for these organizations to find venues to meet their needs throughout the year, and we would like to do what we can to ease their burden. Special thanks to Child Advocates of Fort Bend and Hope For Three for taking us up on our offer so far. These groups, and many others like them, do incredible work and we are grateful to be able to help out in this small way.  If you or someone you know works with a non-profit organization that may be interested in hosting a small event at our Laguna model home, please contact Marie Sims at marie@simsbuilders.com.

Beginning in January, we are also offering complimentary yoga classes at one of our lakefront Laguna townhomes. The start of a new year is a wonderful time to help ourselves and others lead a healthier lifestyle, and what better way to accomplish that than bringing neighbors together to exercise and get their OM on? With a successful first class under our belt, we are hosting more free yoga classes next month on February 11th and 25th from 3-4pm. Each class is led by an experienced instructor from Awakened Yoga in Sugar Land. For more information about our Laguna community yoga classes, please visit our Facebook page.  All are welcome!

Wrap-Up to Another Great Year

Happy-New-Year-2017-Images-W1ishes-SMS-Messages

As a new year approaches, we find ourselves reflecting on where we’ve traveled over these last twelve months. We’ve drawn our very first high-rise condo project to a close. We’ve completed half a dozen beautiful custom homes, including a 36,000 SF estate. We’ve cultivated a tight-knit and highly effective team, both in the office and in the field. We’ve experienced more successes than setbacks, and for that we are extremely grateful.

We are proud of the work we’ve accomplished and look forward to the path that we’ve set before us for the year to come.

Thank you for your continued support of our team and our work. Know that it is appreciated and reciprocated.

All the best,

Our Sims Luxury Builders Team

NCBC Charleston Meeting a Success!

You’ve heard us many times talk about the National Custom Builders Council. By invitation only, this group is made up of 15 custom home builders from non-competing markets across the nation who come together regularly to explore ways to build better, lead better, and live better. It is an exceptional group, and we are humbled and grateful to be a part of it. Last week, our team returned from the National Custom Builders Council meeting in Charleston, SC.

Twice a year, the principle(s) of each NCBC member company meet to discuss best practices in the world of residential construction and business leadership. During the annual Fall meeting, the principles also invite members of their respective firms to take part in separate meetings digging deeper into a variety of topics regarding building science, project and construction management, and organizational effectiveness. This year’s topics included:

  • Subcontractor Implementation and Management
  • Quality, Safety, and Cost Controls
  • Liability Insurance and Litigation
  • Organizational Culture
  • Marketing and Public Relations

For the last five years now, team members within the NCBC companies have been given the opportunity to benefit from the relationships forged and information exchanged at these meetings, just as the principles have for decades. We are grateful to our president, Chris Sims, for including some of our team members on this trip. You have given us the invaluable opportunity to reflect on how we will improve throughout the year to come, and this will undoubtedly pay dividends.

Thank you to our host, Jay Sifly of Sifly Fine Custom Homes, and to John Brink of Brink Custom Homes for all of your hard work planning and executing the logistics of this meeting.

Next Fall’s meeting will take place in Chicago, the home of our newest NCBC member Power Construction!

“EXCELLENCE is the unlimited ability to IMPROVE the quality of what you have to offer.”

-Rick Pittino

We got a special surprise today… Our firm was selected as the Best Custom Home Builder in today’s edition of the Fort Bend Star.

Each year, Star readers from all over Fort Bend County are invited to vote for their favorite companies in over 100 categories. Thank you to our fellow Fort Bend residents for voting us Best Custom Home Builder. We are humbled and grateful for the strong show of support from our neighbors, and we will continue working hard to make you proud!

Using Houzz for Our Homes

In recent years, Houzz.com has been instrumental in allowing us to share ideas with our homeowners and really hone in on how we can make their dream home a reality.

In the pre-construction phase, we use Houzz with our clients to determine an architectural style for their home, identify spaces and features that they would like to incorporate into the home’s design, and to really understand the overall vision they have for their home. During the construction phase, Houzz helps our homeowners to make selections with ease and confidence. From providing inspiration on color schemes, to giving design ideas for an iron handrail or custom mantel, to showing just how certain details of a space might work together, Houzz is an invaluable resource for our team.

Just this month, we became a member of the Houzz Pro+ community, and now have 27 of our projects featured on our profile.  We are grateful for the many platforms technology has given us to showcase nearly 3 decades of our work.  Through our website, this blog, our Facebook page, and now Houzz, we enjoy sharing our passion for homebuilding with you all and the world.

Welcome to our New Team Members

We’d like to send a warm welcome to our newest team member, Raul Benavides.

He has stepped in at a critical time to help finish out our luxury condo project, Riva at the Park. We are lucky to have him on board, and look forward to seeing his continued success with our team!

Raul Benavides joined our team near the end of last year as a senior in Texas A&M University’s Construction Science program. After receiving his degree, he relocated to Sugar Land and joined us full-time working on our high-end condo project in Houston. With his keen eye for detail, effective communication and organizational skills, and strong work ethic, Raul has quickly become a valued member of our team. When he is not in the office or on the jobsite, Raul enjoys watching sports, especially his hometown team the San Antonio Spurs, and trying out new Houston-area restaurants with his girlfriend Klaire.

Home for the Super Bowl

Another exciting Super Bowl in Houston, Texas!  The game on Sunday made history for a number of reasons: the Patriots won their 5th franchise Super Bowl championship all with Tom Brady as starting quarterback, the largest deficit overcome to win a Super Bowl, first overtime in Super Bowl history, a record 4 Super Bowl MVP wins for Tom Brady, and most importantly… the first time a Super Bowl headliner stayed in a Sims Luxury Builders home!

We were thrilled to learn that Lady Gaga, the halftime performer for Super Bowl LI, stayed at one of our homes while in Houston.  Her home away from home was one of our all-time favorite projects, with extraordinary architectural design, beautifully unique features and materials, and fantastic homeowners.

This home won a host of 2010 Houston’s Best Prism Awards and Texas Star Awards, including Best Custom Home Outdoor Living Space, Master Bedroom, Master Bathroom, and Front Elevation.  We are honored that one of our homes got some serious love from Lady Gaga as well as the media this weekend, including Architectural Digest, Vanity Fair, Elle Decor, and the Houston Business Journal.

To take a deeper look into this home, visit the home’s photo gallery or the Villa de Encanto video on our website.
